Up until recently, Photoshop has been a scary place to me. After watching the newborn photography tutorials on http://www.creativelive.com, I have found a new toy to play with-Photoshop Actions. For those who are unfamiliar with what actions are, they are presets sold by other photographers or graphic artists to make editing photos significantly easier. With one click of a button or two you can edit a photo in about 5 minutes. If you’re good with Photoshop then you can come up with and save your own actions, but if you don’t have time to take many classes and read hundreds of books about how to use Photoshop then downloading actions is for you. I was up until the wee hours of the morning the other night just trying out a variety of actions on some old photos I have. At first, I found myself a bit overwhelmed with the amount of actions being sold out there, but discovered that the easiest to use and most comprehensive by far are the Florabella Actions. There are excellent videos on their website that explain how to use them and the most efficient way to build your workflow in PS. If you like her Facebook page, you can even download useful freebies from her website too.
This photo of my friend’s daughter was taken a few years back with my first DSLR. In the original photo, her skin was splotchy and there were a few spots of infant acne and the lighting was a bit dim. I was able to smooth out her skin and improve the lighting with just a few clicks. I really do love technology!
